Roland Garros > Juan Martin Del Potro (about his semi-final in 2009): “With Federer, we felt like it was the final, because Nadal had lost”

In a remarkable interview given to our colleagues from La Nacion, Juan Martin Del Potro talks about his journey, his operations and his daily life which is not easy.

This champion who has become a legend deserved a more dapper end to his career, that’s for sure.

Moreover, as he explains, he cannot run and must constantly adjust his movements when there is an effort to be made.

Of course, he couldn’t ignore Roger Federer and Juan has one regret: the Roland-Garros semi-final in 2009.

“Another thing I think is that both of us, in that semi-final at Roland Garros 2009, we felt like it was the final, because Nadal had lost, he hadn’t never won the tournament, that I had never won a Grand Slam and that it was a match in five sets, where I had a thousand chances to win. I didn’t and thought I could never beat him again. But I did it in the US Open final, where he had won the trophy five years in a row. He once said that this is one of the matches he would like to play again in his career, but obviously I am not offering him a rematch (smiles)”
