Players from Japan, Uganda, Thailand, Maldives and India enjoy the underground

Badminton players from all over the world, who are in Nagpur for the ongoing prestigious tournament, enjoyed a Metro Ride today (Saturday). Apart from India, players from Japan, Uganda, Thailand and the Maldives enjoyed the Metro Ride. The players were accompanied by their coaches and the organizers of the international tournament currently underway at the Mankapur Indoor Stadium.

The team boarded the metro from the airport station and traveled to Khapri station and then to Zero Mile Freedom Park station. Gamers loved Metro Ride. International badminton player and native of Nagpur, Ms. Malvika Bansod is full of praise for the services of Nagpur Metro. “It would be an honor to be a Maha Metro brand ambassador,” said the acclaimed young badminton player.

The cleanliness impressed her the most, she said and added that although it was her first ride, she would prefer Metro Ride over other means of transport, when traveling to Nagpur in the future. It is a matter of pride that the city boasts of such a metro service, which has incorporated Nagpur’s history and tradition into its design, Ms. Bansod said. “I would recommend Metro’s services to others,” she said.

Japan’s badminton coach, Ms Satoko Suetsuna, found the subway ride very comfortable and the cleanliness on the train and at the station reminded her of subway services in Japan, she said. Thai coach Shri Nitipong Saengsila said he was inspired by the architecture of metro stations. The metro stations are worth visiting and watching at least once, the Thai coach added.

Shri Rishwan Shiyam and Shri Brian Kasirye, badminton players from the Maldives and Uganda respectively, said they would also appreciate similar metro services in their countries. Earlier, players, coaches and tournament organizers visited the airport metro station and paid their respects to father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi at Bapu Kuti. They also inquired about the Hangout Center and the library. The players also stopped at the Khapri metro station.

On their final leg of the Ride, players circled Zero Mile Freedom Park. They looked at the battle tank, the signs giving information about the struggle for freedom, the amphitheater. Players and others were greeted by Shri Sudhakar Urade, Managing Director (Operations) and other Maha Metro officials. The officials gave them detailed information about the Nagpur metro project.

Nagpur badminton association secretary Shri Mangesh Kashikar, Shri Vishwas Deswandikar and Mr. Milind Deshmukh, the two technical coordinators, Smt Rucha Pande and others were present during the Metro Ride.
