On the threshold of the NHL. Interview with Kristians Rubinas / Diena

The weather is pampering this summer, even now it is +30 degrees during the conversation. Are you more of a fan of hot weather?

As a seasider, I love this kind of weather. When I’m in Riga, I don’t enjoy the heat, but in Jurmala it’s cool to swim, the water is warm. Who doesn’t like warmth when you can enjoy it a little. (Laughs.)

Do you spend your free time by the sea sunbathing or more active?

I go to the sea, but the people of Riga do it more often than the seasiders themselves. I am more of an active vacationer – I play volleyball, swim, go for a walk in the evening. Put down the towel and look at the sun? I’m definitely not that person.

However, you don’t spend so much time in Latvia simply splashing in the sea.

After the season, usually everyone uses a week or ten days to go catch the sun, but I’m busy in Latvia. Want to meet everyone before driving away.

How long did you get to rest this summer?

Four days after the world championship, I flew to France, where I spent a week. I will not say that I lay on the beach and sunbathe. I also sat by the pool for a couple of days in Nice, but then I turned on the tourist mode – followed by Monaco and Paris. It was necessary to leave hockey for a while. However, even in those moments I definitely do something active – go to the grass, sweat a little. It comes from my family that I can’t just sit still.
