On September 15, MLB takes control of the Rod Carew

The national stadium is in the Major Leagues for the World Baseball Classic qualifier starting on September 30

Against all odds, the Rod Carew National Stadium is 60% complete to host the next round of the World Baseball Classic starting on September 30, an event that distributes two seats to the 2023 festival.

Its first phase included lifting, repairing and reinstalling 5,000 restored seats and 10,000 seats with new armrests, waterproofing the slabs of the first ring of the stadium, repairing the roof, replacing all the padding in the stadium, remodeling the clubhouses ( includes bathrooms), dugouts, whirlpool room, umpire’s room, transmission booths on the third level, batting cage, public bathrooms, kiosk, bedrooms and storage area.

The land was also raised and the storm drainage irrigation system was changed to the herringbone design, as recommended by Major League Baseball.

The improvements and adaptations continue with the remodeling of the gym, the fitting out of 15,000 parking spaces, the change from HID lights to LEDs for the playing field, repairs to the facade and exterior lighting with a new sign with a light box that light up at night, in addition to the internal painting of the facade.

Max Estrada, president of the stadium’s Board of Trustees, announced that the MLB will take control of the coliseum on September 15.

Panama’s first game will be on October 1 against the winner between Argentina and Pakistan at 8 pm.

The Panamanian preselection begins training tomorrow, under the direction of Luis Ortiz, at the Roberto ‘Flaco Bala’ Hernández stadium in the city of Las Tablas.
