The Pittsburgh Steelers and star linebacker TJ Watt have agreed to restructure his four-year contract valued at $112 million heading into the 2022 season.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport reported that the Steelers created additional space for $6.75 million after the two sides agreed. Previously, Pittsburgh had just $2.5 million on their payroll.

This is the second time in a few weeks that the Steelers general manager, Omar Khan, has decided to recompose a contract. After bringing in veteran Malik Reed, the team had managed to increase its payroll by $900,000.

Watt returns from an exceptional season. The NFL Defensive Player of the Year tied the league record for quarterback sacks with 22.5 and recorded 64 tackles.
