NFL signs Rihanna for the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show: “A generational talent” | arts and culture

The NFL has already confirmed Rihanna as the next star for the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show. This could be her triumphant return to music, after her last album released in 2016.

It’s official Rihanna will be the star of the next NFL Super Bowl halftime showwhich will be held on February 12, 2023 in Glendale (Arizona, USA).

The singer published this Sunday on her Instagram account, where she has 135 million followers, an image without text in which her hand appeared holding an NFL ball. Subsequently, The league confirmed in a statement that Rihanna will be the Super Bowl intermission figure.

“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has exceeded expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever,” said rapper Jay-Z, who produces the Super Bowl show for the NFL through his company Roc Nation.

This Super Bowl could mean Rihanna’s return to music

The Super Bowl halftime performance is a truly global event that attracts as much attention as the game itself.

Rihanna will take over from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, who were chosen for the 2022 Super Bowl in which the Los Angeles Rams were proclaimed champions at their home (SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles) by defeating the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Weeknd (2021), Jennifer Lopez and Shakira (2020), Maroon 5 (2019), Justin Timberlake (2018), Lady Gaga (2017), Coldplay (2016), Katy Perry (2015), Bruno Mars (2014) and Beyoncé (2013) round out the recent list of Super Bowl performances.

Also, the one in 2023 will be the first Super Bowl show sponsored by Apple Music, which has replaced Pepsi as sponsor of this show.

Regarded as one of the biggest pop stars of the 21st century, this Super Bowl points to a possible return to the forefront of Rihanna’s musicwho hasn’t released an album since “ANTI” (2016) and who, in recent years, has enjoyed great success with her fashion and cosmetics brand Fenty.
