NFL: Nick Chubb would have liked to throw himself on the ground instead of the touchdown

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb took the blame for the loss to the New York Jets on Sunday.

The ball carrier suggests that instead of registering the last touchdown of his team to make it 30-17 with 1 min 55 seconds to go, he should have thrown himself to the ground. Kicker Cade York missed the conversion by a point and the Jets ultimately staged an incredible comeback to win.

With the New York team having no more downtime at this point, if Chubb had thrown himself to the ground, the Browns would have been able to run out the rest of the time on the clock.

“I probably shouldn’t have scored,” Chubb said Tuesday. Come to think of it, it cost us the game. Several things went wrong and not just one. As a team, we could have done many different elements. It’s just a problem, because we lost. So I probably should have fallen to the ground. »

“It’s my responsibility to spread the word,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said. Getting a 14-point lead in the last two minutes, we should have finished the game anyway. But yeah, I wish I had told Nick and he would have. »

After Chubb’s touchdown, the Jets scored a major when Joe Flacco spotted Corey Davis going 66 yards for the touchdown. The New York team then recovered the ball on a short kick and Garrett Wilson completed the comeback with a touchdown with only 22 seconds left in the game.
