NFL | Brian Robinson makes Commanders roster despite being shot twice | outside of football

The noob Brian Robinsonwho last Sunday received a couple of shots in an attempted assault, was announced this Tuesday within the list of the 53 Washington Commanders players who will face the 2022 season.

The 23-year-old, selected in the third round of this year’s Draft by coach Ron Rivera’s team, was released from the hospital after being shot twice on Sunday. According to information from the NFL, one of the shots was in the buttock and another in the knee, in the latter the bullet went through the joint without damaging ligaments, tendons, or bones and the Commanders’ medical staff trusted that they will soon be able to count on him . Doctors are confident Robinson will be able to play after week four of the season, which kicks off on Sept. 8.

Last Monday Ron Rivera spoke about the visit to the hospital made by the runner who shone with the University of Alabama in collegiate football. “Brian was very lucky, the doctors were very positive with the diagnosis, it’s just a healing process and it will be a matter of time before he returns to the practice field, everything has been very positive,” said the coach.

Leaving him on the 53-man roster gives the Commanders time for a new medical evaluation that will determine whether he goes on the DL in the future. Brian Robinson had outstanding performances in the two preseason games he played with Washington, in which he had 14 carries, 57 yards and a touchdown. Ron Rivera made it clear that the most important thing for the team was the health of his player, although thanks to the encouraging outlook that his discharge caused, he hoped to have him back in a short time.

“The doctors were very positive about his recovery status, it is a process that must be respected to get him back on the field, there is no timeline yet, but everything is going very well,” he added. The Washington Commanders lost all three of their preseason games; 17-15 against the Ravens, 23-21 against the Panthers and 24-14 against the Chiefs. They will debut in the 2022 NFL campaign on September 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
