The 22-year-old with Venezuelan roots was in the final at Wimbledon last year. In Paris two years ago, she caused a stir with her clear second-round victory over world number one Serena Williams. Muguruza meets Shelby Rogers of the USA on Tuesday, who defeated Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3, 6-4.
