The unrestricted free agent, Montrezl Harrell, who was facing a possible 5-year prison sentence for alleged drug trafficking, has emerged victorious from the pending trial in the town of Madison County (Kentucky).
Harrell has finally been convicted of a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and will avoid going to prison if he does not have more problems with the law in the next 12 months, according to information advanced by journalist Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The center was without a team after finishing his respective contract with the Charlotte Hornets, and given his problems with the law, he had not received any firm offer from the NBA. After this sentence, it is to be assumed that he will return to the market, and that some other aspiring team will claim his services in the coming days.
Montrezl Harrell, a second round draft pick in 2015, has carved out a remarkable career between Houston, Clippers, Lakers, Washington and finally Charlotte. In 458 official games he has averaged 12.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 21.5 minutes per night. Likewise, in 2013 he became the NCAA champion with the University of Louisville, and in 2020 he was designated Sixth Man of the Year.
