Montenegrin interior Zoran Nikolic latest Portel signing

Montenegrin international Zoran Nikolic (2.05m, 26) has signed a contract with ESSM Le Portel for this season.

It was in Spain, in Girona, that Zoran Nikolic was trained before leaving for the 2nd Spanish division at CB Prat. He then spent two seasons at Joventut Badalona but only to play three matches. He then returned to his country, to Buducnost Podgorica. Last season, he averaged 6.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in the ABA League and 5.6 points and 4.0 rebounds in the Eurocup.

At EuroBasket, he was Montenegro’s 11th man. In 4 matches, he averaged 5′ for no points and 1.5 rebounds.

« We are very happy, even lucky to have had this opportunity to sign a player like Zoran at this time,” commented coach Eric Girard. « He should bring us his high level experience despite his 26 years, which will help our young people to grow. Its complementarity with Emmanuel (Nzekwesi) and Terry (Allen), his size to help us fight against all the interiors of more than 210cm in the championship and establish our rebound. Zoran also has an IQ that will allow him to adapt quickly to our philosophy even if like all players, he will need some time to get used to his new role which will be more important than with his last teams…«
