Saturday September 10, 150 people attended the inauguration of the bow game and the home of the Compagnie des Archers du Château de Méry-sur-Oise, located at 21, rue des Remises.
After a parade of 22 companies of archers from the castle park to the site, the deputy Guillaume Vuilletet, Stéphanie Von Euw (vice-president of the Regional Council), Pierre-Edouard Éon (mayor of Méry-sur-Oise), Jérôme François (Mayor of Mériel) and Thierry de France (responsible for the French Archery Federation) welcomed the interest of this equipment mentioned in 2005.
“This large-scale project, which really started in 2018, required a budget of €75,000? financed for €46,000 by the company, €14,000 by the Region, €10,000 by the City of Méry and €5,000 by the City of Mériel? and 6,000 hours of volunteer work”
National competition
This transmits virtues (friendship, uprightness, honesty, courtesy, salvation), invites the wearing of the scarf and coat of arms and initiates the traditional practice archery (Beursault shooting, which has existed for seven centuries).
To develop this practice and organize competitions, it had to acquire of one bow game and a home. It’s done.
“Our archery consists of two shooting ranges, protected by guards (wooden panels 2.50 m high) and separated by a paved and covered alley of knights. In competition, archers shoot 40 arrows between two mounds 50 m apart. The house is used to welcome the competitors and to prepare the bows. This will be the case on October 2 when we will be the host site for the French Championships”
His company will be represented on this occasion by nine competitors. A first.
