Medvedev continues his streak at the US Open

the russian Daniil Medvedev (No. 1 in the world) had another solid presentation in the US Open. In the second round he dispatched the French without problems Arthur Rinderknech (58th) 6-2, 7-5 and 6-3 in two hours and 13 minutes of play.

The 26-year-old dominated the match without any major problems. He hit 34 game winners, made 20 unforced errors and converted five break point chances. In this way, he closed out a seamless match.

It is clear that the Russian feels good about these tracks. Adding up the first two rounds, he only gave up 16 games. Counting this edition, he participated six times in Flushing Meadows and has a record of 22 wins and four losses (he was a finalist in 2019, a semifinalist in 2020 and a champion in 2021).

His next challenge will be the Chinese Yibing Wu (22 years old, 174th in the ranking) and, if he wins, a very attractive duel could take place in the round of 16 against the Australian Nick Kyrgios.

Although in the course of the season he still could not find his best version (he only became champion at the ATP 250 in Los Cabos), Medvedev is forced to play his best tennis in the Big Apple as his lead at the top of the ranking is in jeopardy. Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud are the contenders to take the throne from him.
