Berlin – National basketball player Daniel Theis sees the development of the team positively in the three years since the 2019 World Cup in China.

“China was a failure. But we have all matured and learned from it. Now we’ve made it, thanks to the coaching staff and how we’re together, that we’re having fun and being successful. And we want to achieve something with the national team,” said the 30-year-old NBA professional in an interview with the “Braunschweiger Zeitung”. The team around Dennis Schröder was eliminated in the preliminary round.

Germany meets Greece on Tuesday evening (8.30 p.m. / RTL and Magentasport) in the quarter-finals of the European Championship. “Our goal is to win a medal. None of us are getting any younger. On paper it has been said for the last few years that we have a great team, great players. Then it’s time to put that on the field,” said Theis of the Indiana Pacers. A victory over the co-favorite with NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo would be the first international medal since 2005 within reach.
