Mārtiņš Kozlovskis will judge the final of the European Championship

Oskars Lucis will act as reserve/video referee in the bronze medal game between Germany and Poland.

On the evening of Sunday, September 18, Ademir Zurapovic from Bosnia-Herzegovina and Boris Krejic from Slovenia will also work in the Berlin Arena. The bronze match will be refereed by Antonio Conde from Spain, Johan Rosso from France and Kerem Baki from Turkey.

In 2021, Kozlovskis, who was born in Grobinė, became the second Latvian judge to work in the highest level competitions.

The student of Liepāja coach Edvīnas Sprūdes last year refereed five matches in Tokyo, including the Olympic semi-final between France and Slovenia.

This summer turned out to be even more productive for Latvian judges, as the European youth championships resumed after a three-year break. The Latvian quartet – Oskars Lucis, Mārtiņš Kozlovskis, Andris Aunkrogers and Gatis Saliņš – took part in the pre-season seminar of the Basketball Champions League, but later all four went to judge the matches of the “EuroBasket 2022” group tournament.

Lucis and Kozlovskis continued their work in the playoffs. The latter, together with Italian colleagues Saverio Lansarini and Lorenzo Baldini, refereed the semi-final match between France and Poland.

Before that, the Latvian was entrusted with the quarter-final duel between France and Italy.

Oskars Lucis started the final tournament in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and Kozlovskis – in the so-called “Group of Death” group B in Cologne. Lucis refereed Spain’s first three games in Group A, including Spain’s duel against the Turks.

Kozlovskis got a FIBA license in February 2015. The Latvian refereed the bronze matches of the “Women’s EuroBasket” twice – in 2017 in Prague and in 2019 in Belgrade.

He also worked at the EuroBasket 2017 finals and the 2019 World Cup in China.

Mārtiņš Kozlovskis was named the best Latvian judge of 2021. Before him, Oļegs Latiševs was recognized as the best Latvian judge six times (2013, 2014, 2016-2019).
