Liguria sixth at the National Athletics Championships

Twenty-two medals overall, nine gold, six silver and seven bronze represent the positive balance of Liguria at the 24th National Athletics Championships of the CSI which took place last weekend in Castelnuovo Nè Monti (Re).

On the track of the stadium at the foot of the Pietra di Bismantova, the great protagonists were 1500 youngsters and masters, coming from 10 different regions, representing 104 sports clubs: 60% of them are “Under 14”. More than 200 races in which the tricolor titles were awarded in the various categories and different specialties.

In the ranking of the regions, Liguria obtained a flattering sixth place: the same placement for the provincial committee of Savona Sports Center – Albenga out of thirty committees represented.

“Despite some difficulties related to logistics and transfers, it was a beautiful event that recalled the real championships that were held before Covid. The wish- dice Monica Castiglioni Director of CSI Savona / Albenga– is to increase the numbers again next season. We are satisfied with the results of the athletes of our provincial committee and it would be nice if in 2023 there were even more participants from Liguria to compete with larger regions such as Veneto ”.

We therefore applaud the athletes, managers and technicians of Atletica Ceriale, Atletica Val Lerrone, Atletica Cairo, Atletica Varazze and Atletica Run Finale.

The appointment in Castelnuovo Nè Monti also served to support the campaign #Be Active in view of the “European Week of Sport” which aims to encourage a healthy and correct lifestyle with adequate nutrition.

With the national athletics championships in Emilia Romagna the sporting season ends and, in fact, the new one begins immediately, without interruption.

“Togheter. The sport of tomorrow “ is the slogan chosen for the logo: words with which the CSI really wants to involve athletes, technicians and managers, to build together a great restart in a very difficult global context.

“September is a special month because it has in itself the sense of a resumption of a journey to be undertaken together. It also represents- dice Vittorio Bosio National President of the CSI– commitment and concern to do well. The situation is really complex in an increasingly disjointed and disoriented society where it is difficult to find points of reference. With the war in Europe, with the energy crisis, there are already economic problems unfortunately destined to worsen for families, for sports clubs, for plant managers. We will ask the Parliament that will be elected in less than a month, the next government, the utmost attention to our world. Sport can contribute to the “good life” of young people and adults. It is not just competition but a training ground for values and solidarity ”.

Even in Liguria and Genoa the CSI is preparing for new season 2022-23 with the aim of responding to the many needs of the affiliated companies and preparing a calendar of sporting, educational and aggregative activities that involve the greatest number of people. It will be possible to do this increasingly in synergy with public institutions, using the resources of the calls, as the recent excellent results of the Subsidiarity Pacts of the Liguria Region demonstrate.

In detail, the official schedule with all the dates of the championships and events will be made official during the meeting of the CSI Regional Council which will take place at the beginning of October in Lavagna.

Alongside traditional sports, football (with the almost certain return of an “Open” Tournament in Genoa), basketball, volleyball, we will try to increase the appointments of swimming, athletics, gymnastics, without forgetting the so-called “new disciplines” more closely related to the outdoors like a mountain bike circuit, more stages than last year, trail and archery.

For all outdoor disciplines, the hope is to use, exploiting all its potential, Altum Park of S. Desiderio with the surrounding wooded areas.

Also this year training courses will be organized for managers, technicians and coaches: in addition to sporting activity in the strict sense, it is the other “leg” on which the CSI is based. The goal is to prepare aware operators who are credible witnesses, especially in front of the children.
