Ligue 2: Rodez victim of a theft incident, the match at Guingamp postponed

Guingamp was to receive Rodez this Friday evening (8:45 p.m.) on behalf of the 7th day of Ligue 2. As confirmed by the LFP, the match will not take place in the end due to problems during the flight from the Ruthenian team to Brittany and forwarded the dossier to the Competitions Commission.

According The Dispatch, the players would have boarded a plane as usual for the trip to Guingamp this Friday morning. Only, about fifteen minutes after takeoff, a strange smell of burning would have been invited on board the aircraft. The pilot, alerted, would therefore have turned around to avoid a possible tragedy. The plane would have gone back to its starting point and would have landed without difficulty.

Players not ready to get back on the plane

After this traumatic event, a large part of Laurent Peyrelade’s players would not feel ready to return to a plane. The rules require that canceled matches be replayed the next day at 3 p.m. (this Saturday), but the Rodez club could plead with the competitions committee for “exceptional circumstances” in order to postpone the match to another date.

In 2004, the Ruthenians had already avoided tragedy when the door of their plane had exploded over the Mediterranean after the device had been hit by lightning. The RAF was playing at that time against Bastia.
