Lights and shadows for the Cus Siena Judo Masters at the World Championship in Krakow

There is no good news for the Cus Siena athletes since World Master Judo Championship which took place in Krakow from 8 to 11 September.

Valerio Romeo in the -81Kg M6 category, despite presenting himself to the competition as reigning European Champion, after winning the first fight against the Polish Salisz, he loses the next two, of infinite duration, against the Swiss Pantillon and the French Lesdalon. Fights that would have paved the way for him to the final for a medal. Unfortunately, the Cussino was unable to show up for the appointment maintaining the level of physical preparation achieved for the European Championship in the first days of June. At the end Romeo is placed in 7th position.

Bitterness in the mouth for Ianis Lotca who, in the -100Kg M2 category, loses the first fight against Azero Alakbarov.

Immediately recovered, Ianis with an angry reaction wins the next 2 matches dominating respectively the Spanish Alvarez and then the Kazakh Akhmetzhanov, thus accessing a well-deserved final for the bronze medal.

In the final, a ‘wrong reading’ by the referee and some venial errors by Ianis force the cussino, who is unable to win the match, at the foot of the podium, ranking 5th in the final standings.
