In the championship organized by the National Sports Institute, the men’s and women’s teams from this establishment will represent the region in the grand national final to be held between October 23 and 29 in the Biobío region.

Coyhaique.- With great public assistance, the regional stage of the basketball discipline ended, a regional championship in which the communes of Cisnes, Cochrane, Puerto Aysén and Coyhaique participated; In ladies, the first place was obtained by the Liceo San Felipe Benicio, the second place went to the Kalem School of Puerto Aysén, the third place was obtained by the Liceo Austral Lord Cochrane, while the fourth place went to the Guido Gómez Muñoz School of the Swans commune.

In boys, the gold medal went again to the Liceo San Felipe Benicio, while the silver medal went to the Colegio Santa Teresa de Puerto Aysén, the third place went to the Liceo Austral Lord Cochrane, followed by the Guido Gómez Muñoz de Swans commune.

“We managed to beat the Santa Teresa de Los Andes school in Puerto Aysén in this last game, we are very happy with the result and we hope to have a good performance in the national game that will take place in the Biobío region,” said Facundo Mayorga, a player from Liceo San Felipe Benicio of Coyhaique.

In this same sense, the teacher and coach of the Amanda Labarca School of Raúl Marín Balmaceda commented “we represent the Commune of Cisnes and as a rural school it is very important to participate in this type of event, to know how the organization is, to know the level of play that it has in the region and also provide the experience to our students, mainly because of the isolated place where we live; I want to highlight the organization of the championship and also value the work of the referees and how they take the time to educate the children in the rules of basketball, which is very favorable for the students to have good social relationships during the tournament, very grateful for the organization, accommodation and food and we hope to return soon”.

The national final of the basketball discipline will be played in the communes of Concepción, San Pedro de La Paz and Talcahuano, between October 23 and 29.
