Les Bleuets get off to a strong start in Bucharest

The young French archers have ideally started in the Junior Cup which takes place until Saturday in Bucharest (Romania). The cadets monopolized almost all of the first places, with the added bonus of a French and European record for the recurve cadet male team. Among the juniors, the classic girls distinguished themselves by finishing first in the team and individually, also with a French record, without forgetting the classic mixed event like the cadets this morning.

Among the cadets, the French sent heavy for this first day of the Junior Cup which opened in Bucharest (Romania) starting with Baptiste Addis first in qualifying with 677 points, ahead of the Italian Francesco Pitera Poerio et Romain Viale tied at 669 points. Yannis Baudain closely follows in 6th place at 661 and Gabin Barn is 12th at 650.

With this beautiful group shot at the top of the ranking, the French team (Addis, Baudain, Viale) beat it record of France on 3×72 arrows at 60m with 2007 points, improving by 16 points the previous record held since 2019 by Nicolas Bernardi, Gauthier Lamart and Hugo Zajaczkowsky, as well as the European record previously held by Ukraine with 1996 points.

The French, well ahead with 30 points ahead of 2nd Italy, will start the team event as favorites, just like the French women, who are also well ahead with 1965 points, 78 points ahead of Italy, the Czech Republic and the Slovenia. Indeed, the three youngest tricolors have done well since Amelie Cordeau is 2nd with 663 points, Anna Jakusic 2nd at 652 and I need Fremery Delestan 4th at 650, only the Dutch Quinty Roeffen edged them with 670 points.
In the mixed event, France (Addis-Cordeau) also takes first place in qualifying with 1340 points (1 small point from the French record) ahead of Italy 1302 points.
In compound bow, Lea Girault, only French representative, takes 6th place with 670 points.

In the afternoon, it was the Juniors’ turn to compete. In girls, Caroline Lopez raced in the lead from start to finish and took first place with 668 points followed by her teammate Victoria Sebastian 2nd at 658 points, Melody Richard is 6th at 627 points and Lucie Maunier 11th at 623 points.
By team, the French have the best score with 1947 points far ahead of the Italians with 1908 points. It’s a great performance from the tricolors who sign at the same time a new French team record (previously held by Mélanie Gaubil, Océane Guy and Clémence Terrier with 1925 points in 2017).
In the classification of the classic mixed, Caroline Lopez et Nicolas Bernardi also take first place with 1324 points ahead of germany et italy. The French Junior boys team ranks 5th at 1942 points, the best score goes to Nicolas Bernardi 9th with 656 points, Hugo Zajaczkowsky is 11th at 655 and Thomas Strock-Huttepain 30th with 631 points.

In compound bow the three French representatives finished respectively 4th with 698 points for Matthew Mangelle8th with 693 points for Victor Birch and 12th with 688 points for Sebastien Armanini. In the team classification, Slovenia takes first place ahead of France. Candice Cadronet takes 11th place with 668 points. Finally in the mixed event France ranks 4th with Mateo Mangelle and Candice Cadronet.
