Jaromír Jágr promised at the pre-season press conference that he would like to add to the squad in the attacking ranks. And it worked: The Knights were strengthened by the 38-year-old experienced striker Jakub Klepiš, who found a new challenge after the end in Liberec.

“I’m really looking forward to Kladno. I also played with Jarda, it will be nice. Driving distance played a big role in coming to the Knights,” he describes

“I live in Prague and have two little boys, so that’s a big advantage. And I also had a good feeling from the conversation I had with Jarda when we were dealing, it made sense to me,” adds the 2010 world champion.

Klepiš played with Jágr in Omsk or at the aforementioned WC, where the Czech national team took home the gold.

“Distance played a big role in coming to the Knights.”

Klepiš joined the team already during the weekend. He should play his first match on Wednesday against Liberec, when Kladno will play for the first time in the reconstructed hall.

“I will want to score and beat them,” smiles the forward, for whom this will be a special match.

“We will be playing in the new stadium, which is covered in blue, which is my sons favorite, so they will like it here. And I like it too, you can see the changes and it looks good,” Klepiš describes.

“And I also felt good about the conversation I had with Jarda when we were dealing, it made sense to me.”

The two-time KHL champion or Calder Cup winner spent last season in Liberec. In the regular season, he collected 20 Canadian points and was the team’s sixth most productive player.

He did better in the playoffs, where he had almost a point per game (3+6 in 10 duels).

None of his teammates was more productive, only Ladislav Šmíd had the same number of points in the elimination matches.

Kometa only lost the win in Liberec in 59:42

But the former Washington Capitals player did not agree to continue with the White Tigers and quit after one season.

Now the two-time winner of the Tipsport extraliga with Slavia Prague faces a new challenge.

Will Kladno be the leader?
