In the prelude to the duel for the gold, the man from Saltilla faced Kevin Urbina, from Honduras, in a fight that fulfilled the five regulatory minutes and ended in favor of Mexico 11-4.

The duel for gold ended in a surprising way, since Jesús Emmanuel Arzola Flores took first place, after his rival, Herminio Mora, from Costa Rica, accumulated four reprimands that led him to carry the
defeat.
