Dhe FC Bayern is a guest at Italian runners-up Inter Milan. That can only mean one thing: the new Champions League season begins. At the start, the Munich team can expect the first endurance test in international business.

Inter – Bayern: champion against runner-up
As group winners and with maximum points, FC Bayern reached the round of 16 in the Champions League last season. The prestigious group rivals FC Barcelona and Benfica Lisbon could not change that. It was then in the quarter-finals against the surprise Spanish team FC Villarreal.
This year Bayern again expects FC Barcelona in the group phase. But first the Munich team will fly to Milan, to the Italian runners-up Inter.
After it looked for a while last season as if the Nerazzurri would actually be able to present the Italian championship cup for the second time in a row, they had to settle for the runner-up position in the end. The trophy stayed in the city, but Serie A winners went to city rivals AC Milan.
The Champions League season was also unfortunate. In the round of 16, the Milanese played against the eventual finalists FC Liverpool, Inter had to admit defeat with a 1:2. Against FC Bayern there could be a showdown at the highest level.
