Iguodala will play one more season with the Warriors before retiring

Although there was speculation that he might announce the end of his career as a professional, he himself Andre Iguodala confirmed that he will play one more season with Golden State Warriors on the NBA before retiring.

At 38 years old -he will turn 39 in January-, the forward shared the news through the Point Forward podcast, which he co-hosts with former player Evan Turner. In addition, he admitted that he seriously considered the option of retirement, but his teammates, the coach and even the general manager convinced him to continue for another year.

“I’m warning you, Steph, this is the last one,” Iggy told Curry. “I’m going to blame some people. Steph Curry is one of them. Also Draymond [Green]Klay [Thompson]a little Steve Kerr and Bob Myers,” he continued, laughing.

“They really showed me a lot of love. They really helped me see my presence outside of physically playing basketball, but also Steve was a big culprit in terms of ‘listen, we really need you on the court,'” he added.

Due to his frequent physical discomfort, the former Philadelphia player barely played 31 games last regular season and seven in the playoffs, where the Warriors beat the Celtics 4-2 in the final and became champions for the fourth time in the last eight years. .

Iguodala was part of the four rings, including the one in 2015, in which he surprised locals and strangers with a very high level that earned him the Most Valuable Player award in those finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Although in the last three seasons the injuries had him mistreating, the Arizona-born is still important for the Dubs even when he can’t play, since he is well-liked within the squad and even acts as Kerr’s assistant leaning on his vast experience in the league.
