“I was insulted, threatened with death…”: after Diallo’s imprisonment, Hamraoui comes out of silence

“After very long months of suffering, I have decided to break the silence. It is with these words that Kheira Hamraoui has decided to speak, as the investigation into the attack of which she was the victim on November 4, 2021 has accelerated dramatically in recent hours. His former teammate at PSG, Aminata Diallo, was placed in pre-trial detention on Friday and indicted for “aggravated violence” and “criminal association” for his alleged role as sponsor. She was imprisoned in the women’s prison of Versailles (Yvelines) pending her deferred hearing before the judge of freedoms and detention. Four other men – young people from Val-de-Marne and Essonne – were also indicted, suspected of being the perpetrators of the beating of Kheira Hamraoui with an iron bar or of having been present on places. Two of them were imprisoned.

On her Instagram account, Kheira Hamraoui, sidelined from the PSG professional group, has decided to come back to the months she has just gone through. First, therefore, on this evening when, returning from a dinner with the whole team and while Diallo was driving her home, two men attacked her with iron bars.

“This evening haunts me night and day”

“I will never forget this evening of November 4, 2021. It haunts me night and day, she writes. This dark evening that changed my personal and professional life, my life as a woman and as a footballer. This sad evening when I thought I was going to die when two hooded men forced me out of a vehicle. They beat me with iron bars, mainly targeting my lower body. »

“That night, their objective was simple: to take away my work tool by extreme violence by breaking my legs and putting an end to my career”, confides the 32-year-old player.

Without ever naming anyone, the French international also evokes “the media surge” that followed: “Following this oh so traumatic experience which turned into an absolute injustice, I was the victim of a surprising cabal media in order to smear my image and my private life. The purpose was to distance public opinion from the truth: I am a victim. Certainly not guilty, except probably for walling myself up in silence (…). And to have let settle a media buzz. »

“I trust justice to bring out the truth”

About the consequences of this case and the great unpacking that followed – the wife of former international Éric Abidal notably filed for divorce after her husband confessed to her an affair with the ex-Barcelona player – Kheira Hamraoui adds: “For very long months after my attack, I was unfairly insulted on the pitch, harassed on social networks and threatened with death. »

The player now hopes that justice will be done: “Today, I trust justice to bring out the truth and my honor to be washed. I can’t wait for my name to be associated only with the sports pages again and leave the legal columns. She also thanks her family and loved ones for their “unwavering support”.
