The case of the former Golden State Warriors in particular has been widely discussed by the media in recent months. He would have demanded a transaction according to several sources and the formations concerned discussed with the Nets, except that no agreement was concluded. Subsequently, Brooklyn confirmed that Durant will remain in the fold and will continue to respect his contract, which is still in force for four years.

“I don’t think I have to prove anything to Nets fans. […] I am committed to continuing my journey with this team. So if there are any doubts, I can’t control that. It’s up to you. You see me, you know what I can accomplish and how much I care about my game and my teammates,” he said at a press briefing on Monday.

Plus, the two-time NBA Finals MVP recipient hasn’t paraded for self-esteem, rightly or wrongly.

“I know I’m so good that you just can’t give me anything. This is a point that I appreciated from Sean [Marks, le directeur général] and Joe [Tsai, le propriétaire]. They said: you are too good in our eyes to be let go like that. It’s simple and easy to understand. I get that. I know what I am,” he said.

Durant averaged 29.6 points per game last season.
