Haaland chose City through a points system

Erling Haaland, the most coveted piece on the market, chose Manchester City through a points system, as revealed in a documentary that is being recorded in collaboration with Viaplay. The selection method had one main variable: “Which team needs a striker?” His father and former City player, Alfie Haaland, responded in an interview recorded in February: “Madrid has Benzema and they still get Mbappé. Bayern Munich have the best nine in the world with Lewandoski.” Although finally Mbappé has not arrived in Madrid and Lewandowski has ended up in Barcelona.

Other variables that measured the attractiveness of the destination was the quality of the team. Haaland’s team ranked Manchester City as the best team in the world in February, followed by Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. The transfer from Dortmund to Munich could have raised blisters in Germany, so another factor was the atmosphere in the destination city. Alfie Haaland concluded that the move to Bayern would have been “controversial” but that they are “one of the best teams”.

Haaland confirms that in the Champions League match between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund many players approached him to ask him to sign for the citizens. “More than 15 people told me to come to City. Stones, Rubén Dias… there were many”.
