Grace-Hollogne: come to settle a dispute, a man falls into an ambush

A man was placed at the disposal of an examining magistrate, with request for an arrest warrant, for various facts which occurred Friday at the end of the afternoon in Grace-Hollogne. They occurred following a dispute with another individual, the Liège justice communicated on Saturday morning. The man notably struck a baseball bat and set fire to the car of one of his acquaintances.

The trap

The scene takes place Friday afternoon in Grace-Hollogne. The perpetrator contacts the victim, another man, asking him to come to his house to settle a disagreement. The latter complies and borrows his brother’s car to get there. On the spot, the victim is greeted by the man with a baseball bat, and suffered several blows on the public highway.

Wounded, the person flees and manages to take refuge in the neighborhood. His attacker then takes the car in which the victim came to locate him. He offers to take her to the nearest hospital for treatment, which she refuses. Furious at this refusal, he threatens to set fire to the car and runs a few moments later. The vehicle was also found burned down nearby.

Warned of the facts, the police in the Grâce-Hollogne/Awans area located the individual and deprived him of his liberty. Referred to the Liège prosecutor’s office on Saturday morning, an arrest warrant was requested against him. The magistrate on duty put his case under investigation for assault and battery, possession of a prohibited weapon, car theft and arson. The man is known to Liège justice.
