Goodbye legend

“Olympia doesn’t like that I play tennis,” Serena makes it clear that her daughter, Alexa Olympia Ohanian, is more important than the sport that has earned the American woman more than $94 million. When Williams announced to her five-year-old daughter that she would never touch a tennis racket again, Olympia jumped and cheered.

“It made me sad and worried in a way,” Williams admits. However, the tennis legend is aware of the difficulties he has had to go through in recent years and understands that it is time to leave the sports scene. “It’s hard to play with all your heart when your body hurts,” said the superstar.

Serena’s daughter Olympia also wants to be a big sister. The sports star never wanted to choose between tennis and family, but careers for female athletes tend to be more unfair than for men. For example, National Football League (NFL) legend Tom Brady, who is 45 years old, is the father of three children, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, LeBron James, also has three adorable children growing up at home. They did not have to leave the big sport because of their children.

“There are moments in a career where women have to make different decisions than men if she wants to have a family,” said Williams, who will celebrate her 41st birthday on September 26. “There’s only white and black. Choose it or not.”
