Gold medals will return to state judo: Olvera – El Sol de Hidalgo

With the confidence that the entity’s judo will return to the forefront, the medalist at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, Luz María Olvera, indicated that the gold medals will soon return to the entity.

In an interview with El Sol de Hidalgo, the now retired judoka explained that the generational renewal was one of the situations by which the discipline declined in that sense.

In addition, he indicated that another factor that influenced the medals was the absence of camps throughout the year; however, this was alien to the associations, since it was the sports organizations that did not allow trips to Hidalgo, as was done in previous years.

In that sense, he explained that this situation had consequences in the sense that the entity’s judokas were unaware of the preparation and the level of the rest of the country’s regions, which caused the preparation to be different.

Regarding the subject of his retirement, he stated that it is definitive, and he added that one of the main reasons is the lack of support from Conade that he experienced during the final stage towards the last edition of the Olympic Games.

“Not even with continental competitions is it enough to reach the Olympic Games, because I had very good places during the last events, and in the Grand Slam or Grand Prix I was also in good positions, but they do not give you the accounts to reach a good place in the ranking, and you must travel for it. That’s when you lack the supports,” he explained.
