The blue athletes, Giulia Poccobelli and Francesca Benatti, after having participated last May in Rijeka in Croatia at the European Judo Kata Championships have been selected by the Italian National Team to participate in the recent Judo World Championships specialty Kata which were held in recent weeks in Poland, in Krakow
The very young Veronese girls, both black belt II Dan registered with the ASD Kodokan Libertas Verona and trained by M.to Benemerito Flavio Poccobelli 6th Dan of Judo and World referee of Kata and by the Instructor Marco Poccobelli black belt 5th Dan and teacher of MGA (global method of self defense) compete in pairs in the form of Nage no Kata, or demonstration of throwing techniques.
In Poland the two athletes, barely twenty, were the only completely female couple and competed in a single category in which men and women competed in the same poule, closing their first world experience with an excellent 5th place.
Giulia and Francesca in addition to being blue judo athletes are both university students and studying in Venice one and Milan the other struggle a lot in finding time to train, therefore they are often forced to meet in the dojo (gym) on Saturdays and Sundays. , sacrificing what could be their free time. Given the results, however, it would seem that the sacrifices have been amply rewarded by sporting satisfaction. Their palmares currently boasts two participations in the European Championships, a World Championship, a gold medal at the Italian Championships
