Considered for several years as one of, if not the best player in the league, Giannis Antetokounmpo still does not manage to obtain the favors of a former star. The latter explained her skepticism towards the Greek Freak.
By carrying Greece as he knows so well in the coming weeks, he should still earn points with observers. Not sure, however, that this will allow him to silence his main detractor.
Criticism of Giannis, Gilbert Arenas persists and signs
A few days ago, Gilbert Arenas caused a huge buzz by publicly attacking Giannis in his podcast. According to him, the Bucks star would simply not understand basketball. An outing to which he has already returned recentlyand that he tried to clarify once and for all on the airwaves of Sirius XM. Without backpedaling, far from it!

When I talk about understanding the game, I’m talking about all of its tricks. Me, as a guy who was not physically spoiled, I had to use the tools that were available to me as best I could. I had to figure out the game within the game! Which rules I could circumvent, those for which it was not possible, where the referees stood to know which moves they could not see… He does not understand this part of the game yet. He only relies on his physicality .
Words that are reminiscent of those made a few years ago by James Harden, also very incisive towards Giannis at the time. The latter would therefore simply be content with his power to dominate, without really using his brain. Although he tries not to offend his target by delivering such words, Arenas confirms that he does not think less of it in the rest of his intervention:
That’s not a bad thing. I take nothing away from everything he may have done. What I mean is that if you put him at number 1 or 2 in the hierarchy of players, when he doesn’t understand that game yet, it’s scary! Imagine if he had the knowledge and basketball IQ of Tim Duncan. We would be dealing with a totally different player, right?
Despite the tidal wave received following his criticism of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Gilbert Arenas maintains his murderous discourse towards him. Not sure that his last speech will allow him to ease the tensions in this file!
