Football: Rodez remains fanny in D1

The Rafettes have still not scored a goal after this third meeting. On Saturday September 24, they lost 2-0 to Soyaux, a direct competitor.

Both teams had been beaten in the first two days. With honors for Soyaux (2-0 in Paris; 2-1 in Lyon), more dryly for Rodez (2-0 at Paris FC, 0-4 against PSG). On Saturday, ASJ and Raf crossed swords with the desire to score their first points in their quest to stay in D1 Arkema. Between Sojaldiciennes more accustomed to D1 and more novice Ruthénoises, the suspense will not even have lasted a half (2-0). Enough indeed to see the Charentaises mark their territory and logically win.

There was not a class difference on Saturday between Soyaux and Rodez but a higher level of expertise in D1 among the Charentaises. The ex-Monegasque (R1), Stéphane Guigo, a new Soyald technician was therefore able to take the opportunity to celebrate his first victory in the elite. This one could undoubtedly have been more serene, if his team which managed to double the mark in 45 minutes, had been able to triple it. But whatever.

It is therefore in the first act that the scenario was written. With a 5-3-2 intended to suck up their opponent inclined to make the play, ASJ left possession to Rodez who approached, but never found the fault.

And if it was on a set piece that Soyaux opened the scoring (7th), with a header at the near post from Collin, it was of course on a counter model, precisely taking advantage of the aspiration of the Ruthénoises, that Roux, well served by Bourgouin, deceived Sieber. The attacking duo, who combined perfectly, will have had other chances, but in vain.

For his part, Rodez had many opportunities to respond, in particular by Bogi with a header (13th), on a corner from Barbance (15th), a center from Borne (23rd) or a strike from Guelleatti (45th + 3)… But each time, Munich was on parade.

Upon returning from the locker room, Aveyron coach Rufié made a first change, launching Stiévenart in place of Tarrieu (46th). But it had no real impact on the course of a meeting where Soyaux accentuated his influence. At the limit of offside, Roux also missed the 3-0.

On the hour mark, the Ruthénoises resurfaced a little. But as they approached the Munich goals, a blue and white wall cut them off.

From then on, Stéphane Guigo took the opportunity to open his bench. And in particular brings into play, Kome, who lost the ball in front of his surface. But Rodez could only worry Munich (67th), who will still show off on strikes from Cance (68th, 72nd). The Ruthenian reaction was too timid to hope to reverse the trend.

“Technically, we still have too much waste”

Mathieu Rufié, coach of Rodez: “Today, we can’t hope for anything. We make mistakes in concentration, in investment. There are things that we can’t repeat. In D1, you are punished for it. And afterwards, you run after the score and it’s difficult. Learning the D1, for a moment, it has to stop otherwise we know where we will be at the end. Technically, we still have too much waste, too many inaccuracies, too few players available to the one with the ball. Soyaux was realistic but also had opportunities to score a third. We will have to work and question ourselves.”
