Football: Arnautovic saves Bologna from bankruptcy

Soccer

Marko Arnautovic once again saved FC Bologna from bankruptcy in the sixth matchday of the Italian Serie A. The Viennese hit twice during the guest appearance at Spezia Calcio on Sunday and saved Bologna a 2: 2 (1: 1). Arnautovic also put himself at the top of the Italian top scorers list.

With his fourth goal of the season, Arnautovic ensured a dream start for the guests from Bologna in the sixth minute. The top scorer was ideally sent into the depths, rounded the opposing goalie and scored a bit lucky past a defender to make it 1-0. However, the hosts from La Spezia made sure that Simone Bastoni (45+2) was level in injury time in the first half.

After the shock of the equalizer shortly before the break, things got even worse after a change of sides for Bologna: Jerdy Schouten gave Spezia the lead with an own goal (54th). But the guests didn’t give up and were rewarded with another equalizer from Arnautovic (64′). Again it was a quick counter-attack, with Arnautovic sprinting perfectly into the hole and keeping his nerve in a one-on-one with the goalie, that resulted in the goal.

The 33-year-old now has five goals in five games and is still responsible for all goals scored by coach Sinisa Mihailovic’s team so far. Bologna, where new signing Stefan Posch was still on the bench, was happy about the third point, but is still waiting for a win after five games. Arnautovic, Posch and Co. can therefore only be found in 15th place in the table.
