Feyenoord O21 painfully down against ten of PEC Zwolle O21

Feyenoord Under 21 has suffered a painful defeat at Varkenoord. PEC Zwolle Under 21 was 2-4 too strong for the promises of the Rotterdam club. It made it extra sour because the people of Zwolle played just under half an hour with ten men.

The match started evenly. Both teams exchanged great opportunities, but it was PEC Zwolle Under 21 that was the first to find the net. The away team took a 0-1 lead in the 23rd minute. Winger Jaden Slory was quick to bounce back. After a good wide pass from striker Nesto Groen, the way to goal was open for Slory. He curled the ball flawlessly past the keeper. Shortly after the equalizer, however, PEC scored again: 1-2.

After the break, the away team rumbled on. Soon the people of Zwolle made the 1-3 and late in the game a fourth goal was also scored. The team of trainer Melvin Boel did something back in the final seconds. Midfielder Dermane Karim received the ball just outside the sixteen-meter area from substitute Gjivai Zechiël, did not hesitate for a moment and shot the ball hard from twenty meters.

Melvin Boel’s team has had a mediocre start to the new season. Feyenoord O21 lost to ADO Den Haag Under 21 last week and managed to take the three points against FC Groningen Under 21. So after three games, three points have been scored. Saturday, October 1, the away game against Almere City Under 21.
