FC Chelsea: Bundesliga interest in N’Golo Kanté – FOOTBALL

He is one of the longest-serving Chelsea players: N’Golo Kanté (31/contract until 2023)!

But now the midfielder could possibly leave the “Blues”. As “The Athletic” reports, talks about a contract extension are stalling.

Accordingly, Kanté has rejected the club’s current offer from new owner Todd Boehly (48). Chelsea have offered him a contract for two more years plus an option.

Apparently not satisfactory for the 31-year-old!

Under the previous management, a new three-year contract with the possibility of a further season is said to have been in the air.

On top of that: The 31-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly (who came from SSC Napoli for 38 million euros in the summer) even signed until 2026.

However, Chelsea are said to be reluctant to sign Kanté on a longer-term contract because he has been injured more often in recent years.

There would probably be no shortage of potential buyers! Two unnamed English clubs, a Spanish club – and a Bundesliga club are said to be interested in the Frenchman, who would be available on a free transfer in 2023.

In principle, Kanté can obviously imagine staying at Stamford Bridge – and even ending his career there.

After all, the midfielder has been on the pitch for the Londoners since 2016. At that time he came from Leicester City for 35.8 million euros. He has now scored 13 times in 262 competitive games for the “Blues”.

Who had parted ways with coach Thomas Tuchel (49) almost a week ago – 100 days after the club was taken over by the new owners. Just a day later, Chelsea appointed former Brighton coach Graham Potter (47) as the German’s successor. The Englishman signed for five years.

Tuchel was extremely disappointed after the surprising exit: “I’m devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end,” he wrote on Twitter.
