Europa League: Gregoritsch shines in Greece

Europa League

ÖFB team player Michael Gregoritsch shot SC Freiburg to a 3-0 (2-0) win at Olympiakos Piraeus in the UEFA Europa League. The Styrian scored in the Greek port city in minutes 25 and 52 in the style of a goalscorer. Manchester United showed no weaknesses with a 2-0 win at Sheriff Tiraspol – Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the point.

After 61 minutes, Gregoritsch’s successful working day in Greece came to an end. Nicolas Höfler had already headed Freiburg into the lead in the fifth minute. After two matchdays, the Breisgauers have the maximum haul of six points. “We were just better today,” said Gregoritsch to TV station Sport2. The goals were scored “at the right moments” and “now a great situation” in the table, according to the Austrian national striker.

Jadon Sancho (17′) and Ronaldo from the penalty spot (39′) scored before the break. For the Portuguese, it was the 699th goal of his club career. United struggled with opponents before Sancho’s fine one-on-one effort broke Moldova’s goal barrier. England are second in their group after winning first, behind Real Sociedad, while the Basques beat Omonia Nicosia 2-1 at home.

Aleksandar Dragovic lost 2-1 at Trabzonspor with Red Star Belgrade. The Serbs, who were still pointless, ended the game in ten men, with Ferencvaros Budapest leading the table with two wins after a surprising 1-0 in Monaco.

Vaduz KO late against Alkmaar

In the Conference League, Vaduz was on course for the next point win for a long time. The Rapid-Schreck from Liechtenstein lost 4-1 at Alkmaar after conceding goals in the 81st, 92nd and 95th minutes. After a red card against goalkeeper Benjamin Büchel, Vaduz was outnumbered for half an hour. From the Austrian trio, only Kristijan Dobras was there.
