Ztwo goals, four assists: the best preparer in the league speaks French. There are many a professional who drew attention to himself in Eintracht’s furious 4-0 win over Leipzig. Randal Kolo Muani is undoubtedly one of the influential men in the coup against RB. A few weeks ago he was at FC Nantes. His parting gift before moving to Frankfurt was winning the cup. From national title holder to international Europa League winner.
There were a lot of good things to hear from Kolo Muani even before the first rallies. The sleek attacker has lived up to expectations to the fullest satisfaction. “Today was an outstanding feeling, the perfect evening for us,” said the 23-year-old attacker after another thrilling Bundesliga game. “The fans give us enormous power and the second air. That helps us on the pitch,” he said modestly, because Kolo Muani is also responsible for power in Eintracht, who will face Oberliga club Stuttgarter Kickers away in the second round of the DFB Cup (18/19 October).
A few weeks ago, when he shone as a preparer in the 1-1 draw at Hertha BSC, one person was full of praise for the Frenchman: Fredi Bobic. “The boy can go through the roof,” said the former striker, who worked for Eintracht as a sports director for many years before his engagement in Berlin. As early as autumn 2020, Bobic worked very intensively with Kolo Muani in Frankfurt in conjunction with Ben Manga, the director of professional football. The verdict at the time: “He wasn’t quite finished training, his header was still unclean, the ball sometimes went away, there was room for improvement in the end. But he had the basic cutlery.”
At Eintracht, they were willing to bring him to Frankfurt in winter 2020/2021. But the price that FC Nantes asked was too high. The club preferred to wait until his contract expired. Kolo Muani actually came on a free transfer – and signed a contract with Bobic’s successor, sporting director Markus Krösche, until mid-2027.
Krösche’s enthusiasm at the time of the transfer has since been fulfilled. “He is fast, robust and has a very good goal finish. In addition, he is tactically variable and can play in several systems, which will give us even more variability.” Basically, the fast attacking attacker can be used offensively in all positions, but preferably in the center or on the right. It was no exaggeration when Eintracht captain Sebastian Rode, who was injured after a good half hour, spoke of a “fantastic performance” after the bravura piece against RB.
“We found our way into the game from the first minute and convinced both in terms of play and fighting. We scored the goals beautifully. The goals brought safety and more space to counter. We played them really well.” A great credit goes to Kolo Muani, who once again selflessly worked himself up and hung up for a team-mate who is also responsible for Eintracht’s current upswing: Daichi Kamada.
Thinker, leader, strategist: It is not only Mario Götze, who has been in excellent form for two games, who has raised the Eintracht game to a new level with intelligence and intuition. Kamada also played a key role in the upswing. He scored his third goal of the season against Leipzig. He is so far the most successful Frankfurt goalscorer. Kamada’s goals in Berlin and against 1. FC Köln meant important points in the two 1-1 draws.
