Duván Zapata: injured in Atalanta for two to three weeks out | Colombians Abroad

Atalanta de Bergamo can afford to be leaders of Serie A with Luis Fernando Muriel and Duván Zapata. Thanks to Teun Koopmeiners who scored all three goals in the 3-1 home win against Torino. However, Duván does not live the best present of him in Italy. He has not been able to break the Italian goals at the start of the season, and as if that were not enough, he returned his headache: injuries.

The end of last season was bittersweet for Duván Zapata who missed important games due to injuries. He relapsed more and more in blows that did not allow him to develop in the best way. At the start of 2022/23, the outlook was intended to improve. Atalanta’s medical team had the great plan of taking care of him, and thoroughly examining him so that his physical condition would improve. He passed the test in the first three games, but in the fourth, he suffered again.

The 31 minutes were running when he threw himself on the ground. He played another minute or so trying to react despite the pain, but at minute 36 he was replaced by Rasmus Höjlund. For his part, Luis Fernando Muriel did not add minutes throughout the match.

Néstor Lorenzo will soon deliver the official squad for the friendlies against Guatemala and Mexico at the end of September. Duván Zapata would arrive between cottons, and probably will not enter the list of those chosen by the Argentine strategist.

The blow is muscular, he has discomfort in the back of his left leg, and the outlook is not positive. Gian Piero Gasperini spoke at a press conference about Duván Zapata, “we’ll see tomorrow, it seems that he does stretch a bit, but it’s very soon, I’m just going to report what they told me, he could stay still for between 2 and three weeks”. It is premature to speak, but the information from the strategist is not encouraging for a possible call to the Colombian National Team.
