Sebastian Szymanski failed to beat the Dutch national team with Poland. The Feyenoord midfielder started in the Nations League match in the starting lineup and was substituted after seventy minutes.
Szymanski started the match together with Napoli midfielder Piotr Zieliński just behind striker Robert Lewandowski. Especially in the first half, the Poles could hardly create any chances. After the break, Arkadiusz Milik was brought into the field as an extra weapon in the front. A number of opportunities were created with the striker, but that was not enough to prevent a 0-2 defeat.
In addition to Szymanski, Dávid Hancko and Orkun Kökcü also played on Thursday-evening. Gernot Trauner remained on the bench for the entire game in Austria’s lost game against France. Hancko lost 1-2 to Azerbaijan in the final phase of the match and Kökcü, wearing number ten, drew 3-3 against Luxembourg.
