The Peruvian team could not beat Chile in World Group I of the Davis cup and missed the opportunity to advance to the Qualifiers. After that setback, the national team has no choice but to look forward, thinking of Ireland, its next rival in the competition, the same one that was known this Tuesday.
At the headquarters of the International Tennis Federation (ITF, for its acronym in English), the draw was held and it determined that Peru be local against the Irish team for the playoffs of World Group I. The dates scheduled for the matches are February 3 and 4 and February 4 and 5, 2023.
The winner of that series will compete in September of next year in World Group I, while the losing team will compete the same month in World Group II, against one of the winning teams from the Davis Cup World Group II playoffs. .
“We will be local again! Next year, the Peruvian Davis Cup team will host Ireland in Lima on the first weekend of February”, was the message of the Peruvian Tennis Federation on social networks, once it was confirmed who will be the opponent.
Last weekend, Peru fell at the hands of Chile, with a score of 3-2. Juan Pablo Varillas defeated Alejandro Tabilo and Nicolás Jarry in their two singles matches and gave the country two points. Nicolás Álvarez, Arklon Huertas del Pino and Sergio Galdos also participated in the series, the latter two in doubles.
