Dachau – Over 250 active members of GenDai-Budo

In March 2020 GenDai-Budo held its last tournament in the sports hall of SV Günding eV. Then came the big corona break and for two and a half years all efforts to set up new tournaments were suspended due to the restrictive regulations. After the older athletes have already been able to win numerous important titles since all measures were lifted at the beginning of April 2022, the beginners and their families should now primarily be offered a platform to do sports together.

Three categories were offered at the family sports festival at the end of July: Judo, Sumo – held on seven competition mats – and Panther Hexathlon (PSK). The latter is an athletic comparison competition, where it was primarily about higher, faster, further and in principle everyone from the age of three was allowed to try it out. In addition to certificates and medals in the individual competitions, trophies were also won this time in the overall ranking for participation in all three categories and in the family ranking. The response from our own ranks and from other clubs was overwhelming. 82 students from the SV Günding club competed in judo, 75 in sumo and an unbelievable 110 athletes, supplemented by parents and siblings, competed in the PSK. There were also 103 judokas from abroad, another 30 participants in sumo and eleven starters for the PSK. The judo tournament alone included 185 active participants aged between six and 46 on that day. All in all, the more than 250 participants competed in 420 individual decisions.

The Stiftl family from Dachau finally secured the family cup. The overall trophies went to: [F] 1. Sonja Zimmerer (380 points); 2. Mira Wegner (372 points); 3. Emma Boutelliez (370 pts.) and in the [M] 1. Peter Kranz (402 points); 2. Lovis Deuble (372 pts); 3. Henry Thomas (364 pts). Of course, such a mega event also required a huge organizational and logistical effort, which had to be managed by many helpers in the background, which is why special thanks go to them.
