Cuban judo achieved a great result this weekend, placing sixth by country in the European Open Tournament, in Aberwart, Austria, after winning a couple of bronze medals yesterday, which were added to a gold and another silver obtained on Saturday.

According to the International Federation website www.ijf.org, the bronzes were Andy Granda, in +100 kilograms, and Nairelis Fuentes (70), who joined the podiums of the title holder Melissa Hurtado (52) and the runner-up Vanessa Godínez (48).

Both Granda and Fuentes recorded their tanned performances with identical positive balances of two wins and one loss. Also contributing to the placing by nations were Noomis Eizarde (+78), who finished fifth, and Yasel Baeza (81) and Heriberto Rivero (100), seventh.

France led the medal table with three gold, three silver and one bronze, followed by Switzerland (2-1-0) and Hungary (2-0-3).
