How many athletes will compete in badminton in Paris 2024?
In total, they will be awarded 172 places for ai badminton competitions Paris Olympic Games 2024: 86 for women and 86 for men. This is the same issue as Tokyo 2020.
For each genre, 83 places will be awarded through direct qualification, one is reserved for the host country and two for Universality (Universality places).

In men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, the same criterion applies, but the two odds (for four athletes) are assigned to NOCs who have two or more couples ranked between first and eighth place.
What is badminton’s qualifying path for Paris 2024?
The ‘Paris Ranking List’ al 30 aprile 2024 they will be used to assign odds in men’s and women’s singles, as well as in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles matches.
Each list will be based on the results obtained between the May 1, 2023 and April 28, 2024.

- World Championships
- Grade 2 BWF tour tournaments – Livelli da 1 a 6
- Grade 3 BWF Continental tour tournaments – International Challenge, International Series & Future Series

- Continental multisport games – Pan American Games, European Games and African Games (if approved during the qualification period).
- Other international events approved by the BWF and included in advance in the World Ranking Lists
Qualification path for single events
A total of 70 athletes will qualify for singles events through the BWF “Road to Paris Ranking List”: 35 in men’s events and 35 in women’s events.
These quotas include continental representative posts. In each singles match, there will be at least two athletes from each of the five BWF continental confederations (continental representative seats), as long as the player is no more than 250th position (ranking between 1-250) in the Road to Paris Ranking List BWF of 30 April 2024.
Qualification path for doubles events
A total of 48 pairs will qualify for doubles events through the BWF ‘Road to Paris Ranking List’ as of April 30, 2024: 16 in the men’s event, 16 in the women’s event and 16 in the mixed event. In each doubles match there will be at least one couple from each of the five Continental Confederations BWF (continental representation).
Badminton format and calendar in Paris 2024
Badminton competitions will be held at the Gate of La Chapelle Arenalocated north of Paris, between July 27 and August 5.
The format of the singles and doubles events is divided into two stages: the group stage and the single elimination stage. The knockout stages begin with the round of 16 for the singles and the quarter-finals for the doubles.

Badminton: the athletes to watch in Paris 2024
In the masculine singular, the Danish Viktor Axelsen is dominating the badminton scene. After winning gold in Tokyo 2020, he took his second world title in 2022. His teammate will also be among his favorites. Anders Antonsen.
The two-time Japanese world champion Momota Kento will aim for redemption after failing to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 knockout stage as seeded.
