Countdown to SportAbility Day on Saturday at Sciorba in Genoa – Primocanale.it

Everything is ready for the great sporting party dedicated to people with disabilities. On Saturday 17 September, the Sciorba multi-sports facility will be transformed thanks to the commitment ofStars in Sport Association in an extraordinary barrier-free sports village.

It is the second edition of the “SportAbility Day”, a day of sport, friendship and inclusion promoted with the support of the Liguria Region and the Municipality of Genoa, with 30 disciplines and activities to try. There will be playful paths, activities that can also be used for the little ones and then the swimming pool that in the afternoon (from 15 to 18) will allow you to learn about underwater teaching and swimming with all its specialties.

Exceptional testimonial of SportAbility Day is Francesco Bocciardo, twice gold medal at the last Tokyo Paralympics. Beside him also Vittorio Podestà, multiple medalists in Hand Bike at the Games in Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro. They will open the parade (10:30 am) in which all the young people and Associations present, to date more than 50, will participate.

Numerous Paralympic athletes on the field: Andrea Azzarito (Genoese Swimmers), Tommaso Libertini (Genova Badminton Club), Vittoria Oliva (Table Tennis Don Bosco Varazze), Italian dance champions Simone Capelli (paired with Federica Benvenuto) and Laura Del Sere (paired with Andrea Barberis).

At the end of the “Opening ceremony”, in full Olympic style, the numerous activities will begin thanks to the involvement of qualified instructors and technicians from Federations and Associations. An intense and beautiful day that will arrive until 6pm. Two tournaments sponsored by Figc Dcps and Figc Sgs will also be held on the football fields. Seven teams of children with intellectual and relational disabilities are the protagonists of the opening tournament: BIC Genova (2 teams), Insuperabili Genova (2 teams), Divertime, Insuperabili Torino and Ticinia Novara. In the afternoon space for the integrated football tournament with 10 teams: Propontedecimo, Athletic Club Albaro, Sestrese, Baiardo, Genova Calcio, Città Giardino, Ligorna, Campomorone Sant’Olcese. Great expectations also for the women’s derby between Sampdoria and Genoa (4 pm). In the third football field set up, the activities of Insuperabili (11-13), Eunike and Free Sport (13-16) and We Play Football (16-18) will alternate. As part of the activities promoted by Eunike, a Special Olympics Meeting dedicated to football and some individual skill courses will be held together with the national technical coordinator Massimo Micci.

At the swimming pool, appointment at 3 pm with the tests of “Underwater teaching” with Fipsas instructors, afterwards it will be possible to swim with Francesco Bocciardo and at 5 pm there will be the great swimming relay, coordinated by My Sport Special Olympics, in which everyone can participate (it is necessary to bring swimsuit, slippers and cap).

To applaud and encourage the boysinvolved in the field, as last year there will be important testimonials such as Christian Puggioni to Claudio Onofri, Simone Spinelli (creator of We Play Football) to Fabio Incorvaia (promoter of Jetski Therapy).

Here are the 30 sports to try in alphabetical order: Climbing, Athletics, Adapted Motor Activity, Badminton, Bowls, Free Style Football, Rowing, Cycling, Sports Dance, Underwater Teaching, Gymnastics, Traditional Games, Golf, Field Hockey, Horseshoe Game, Jet Ski Therapy, Judo, Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, Pet Therapy, Powerchair Hockey, Rugby, Fencing, Sitting Volley, Taekwondo, Tennis, Table Tennis, Tug of War, Archery and Sailing.

“The goal is to try out many different disciplines, also and above all to young people who have not yet approached sport and have not been able to enjoy its extraordinary values ​​and benefits”, Michele Corti explains, president of the Stars in Sport Association which promotes the SportAbility Day of which Francesco Bocciardo is testimonial. “Sport has played a fundamental role in my personal growth – says the two-time Paralympic gold medal in Tokyo – and very often I stop to think and realize that today I would not be the person I am, if I hadn’t played sports. There are many rules that I have learned and made my own thanks to sport, first of all the importance of constancy and determination. Sports education has given me a lot, above all the ability to be able to resist the external or internal pressures to which the world of sport subjects, which has served me a lot in everyday life. This is why I invite all disabled children to play sports. On Saturday I look forward to seeing you at Sciorba for this extraordinary sport and inclusion party organized by Stelle nel Sport ”.

On the field there are 3 drinking fountains and each boy will be given a bottle to quench his thirst during the day. Thanks to Panarello and Tossini everyone will be offered a snack.
