Castro, Simó, Moris and Marcelino, gold in the cadet Panam Judo Cup

SANTO DOMINGO. Dany Castro, Manuel Simó García, Neolfi Moris and Jordin Marcelino won the bronze medals in their respective categories in the cadence modality of the Judo World Ranking Pan American Cup held at the Parque del Este Handball Pavilion.

Castro was crowned in minus 50 kilos, while Manuel Simó did it in minus 55 kilograms; Moris dominated in minus 52, and Marcelino in more than 50 kilos.

For this Sunday, from 10:00 in the morning, the competitions of the Senior Pan American Open will conclude, which distributes points for the Pan American Games Chile 2023, and the Olympic Games of Paris 2024.

Overall, cadet judoka ranked first with four gold, nine silver and 10 bronze medals, while the United States came second with three gold, two silver and one bronze medals.

Third place went to the cadet delegation from Colombia, with two gold medals and one silver, tied with Puerto Rico, which obtained a similar result. Chile added two gold metals, while Portugal and Venezuela kept one gold each.

Rubiel de los Santos, Yarelis Lucas, Mailon Castillo, Mayelin José Pie, Rikelmi Mejía, John Hernández, Patricia Canario, Manuel Polanco and Cándido Figueroa won silver medals for the Dominican Republic after losing their respective finals.

Both events are held with the support of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the Pan American Judo Confederation (CPJ) in coordination with the Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo).

Just over 300 athletes from 25 countries take action in their respective categories.
