This month, Ecuador’s mixed martial arts (MMA) may make history. If Emiliano Linares achieves a carat victory in the Dana White’s Contender Series series and if Carlos Vera does the same in a fight of the FURY Fighting Championship (Fury FC) promotion, Guayaquil and Manta, respectively, will have their first representative in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Linares will fight for a place in the roster of the UFC when facing Australian Jack Jenkins on Tuesday, September 27 for the tenth and final week of season 6 of the Contender Series, in Las Vegas (Nevada). Three days before, Vera will face the American Isaiah Gutierrez on the Fury FC 69 card, in Dallas (Texas).
