Argentina champion of the AmeriCup
The Argentine Basketball Team stomped once again at the Geraldão Arena in Recife and was crowned AmeriCup champion by defeating Brazil 75-73. After his return to the country, the basketball player from Santa Fe, Carlos Delfino, gave statements to TyC Sports where he explained his feelings after being crowned champion with the Albiceleste at 40 years old.
“I think this group deserved it, they had had a couple of finals and they had not been able to achieve the final goal, and to have achieved it in this way is barbaric”, the selected player began by saying.

In the same sense, he highlighted that despite the resignation of Che García and Pato Garino’s injury in the previous one, they overcame and won the title: “They are also part of this, this group had been working for a month and a half, we first got together the window and then prepared the tournament and well a lot of things happened, we overcame, we kept going forward and we ended up crowning at the end“.
Likewise, the former Union told what this title with the National Team means to him: “For me, I always say that each game is a title, being in the National Team is something very important. I don’t know if I’m going to continue being there or not, as I just said, I’m never going to withdraw from the national team by myself, they’re going to stop calling me and when they stop calling me, I’m going to be the biggest fan of all, because it’s a unique place and not to mention these days when one returns with the medal in the backpack“.
“They are unique sensations that, well, when a lot of bad things happened to me, they were missed and, well, now that I can enjoy them again, I do it to the fullest.”, he highlighted.
Carlos Delfino was crowned champion with the Argentine National Team in three different decades: Olympic Games in Athens (2004), Pre-Olympic Games in Mar del Plata (2011), and AmeriCup in Recife (2022).
