Bosnia is criticized. Even captain Džeko is strongly against the match in Russia

A few days before the start of the football world cup, preparatory matches will also be played for countries that will not be present at the tournament. The union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is to face Russia in St. Petersburg, surprised the most. However, the general public and team captain Edin Džeko are strongly against it.

The Russian national football team was excluded from all events due to the invasion of troops in Ukraine, including qualification for this year’s world championship. The last time the eastern national team played was in November last year, friendly matches are scheduled to take place before the World Cup this year.

The Russian Federation also arranged a match with Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is highly criticized for this decision. Much criticism was leveled above all on the Facebook account, where the fans distanced themselves significantly from the union’s actions and declared that they would not support the team.

A terrible shame. Glory to Ukraine,” wrote the fans most often. The captain of the national team and currently striker of Inter Milan Edin Džeko, who appeared during his career in the jersey of North Bohemian Teplice, is also strongly opposed.

I am against playing a match, peace is my first priority. The federation knows my opinion, but unfortunately I am not the one who decides with whom the national team will play, but I have my position. The latter is clear and does not involve playing a match with Russia while innocent people suffer. I stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in these difficult times,” said Džeko for the Klix website.

The match is scheduled to take place at the beginning of the second half of November, just a few days before the start of the Qatar championship. The decision to play the match was made at an extraordinary meeting of the crisis staff of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Five members were in favor, only one against.
