Off Thursday, the Blue Jays (87-69) will host the Red Sox Friday through Sunday.
Toronto leads the trio of clubs that will advance to the playoffs without being division champions. The portrait is currently completed by the Tampa Bay Rays and the Seattle Mariners.
The best of these clubs will be at home in the first round, in a best-of-three series.
The other two teams in the group will play away in the first round.
